Trainer Spotlight Featuring… David Berdeaux of Colonial Bank
Teller Trainers are the backbone of retail banking, so in this issue of our eNewsletter we are featuring David Berdeaux, Curriculum Development Specialist II for Colonial Bank in Montgomery, Alabama.
When asked what he loves most about his job, his response was ”The excitement! There is never a dull moment working in the Training & Development field. From developing a quick reference guide to fleshing out a full blown multimedia curriculum, you never know what the day will hold for you. However, in the end, what I love most about my job is seeing the light come on in someone’s eyes and knowing they have learned something new.”
David’s dedication to helping associates advance in the banking industry and his desire to see employees who enjoy their jobs, and want to make banking their career has led him and Colonial Bank to incorporate TellerSolution Online® into their curriculum.
According to David, “TellerSolution® has reduced the time our tellers are out of the branch. The tellers are able to receive the fundamentals of the job in a five-day period and then get back in the branch with a coach for hands-on training. Colonial Bank’s promise to its customers as well as its employees is ‘You’ll like it here!’
TellerSolution Online ® is helping us fulfill that promise by giving the teller the knowledge they need to provide great customer service. The program also helps build the teller’s skills so they are more confident in their ability to do their job. Being confident in your job goes a long way to ensure you’ll like it here!” David’s banking career encompasses 16 years, including one year at Colonial Bank. David began his banking career in 1992 at First Alabama Bank in Montgomery, AL. He literally began at the foundation of the bank, working as an Interoffice Mail Page. Showing enthusiasm for his job and a willingness to work hard for what he wanted, he quickly moved into the positions of Teller, Main Vault Supervisor, and Recovery Officer. In 1997 David accepted a position with the Instructional Design Team and was given an opportunity to build a teller training program that included the new transaction system the bank was implementing (both TRC Interactive products). From that point on, his world has revolved around developing instructor-led, blended learning, and computer based training. David’s current position with Colonial Bank is Curriculum Development Specialist II.
David enjoys the renovation of historic homes in Montgomery, AL. He is currently renovating a historic 1922 Tudor Cottage in the Garden District of Montgomery. He is also a supporter of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. David likes to spend time at the lake and wake boarding.
